YES WE CAN...give customer satisfaction

When I received this letter from my home insurance, I checked the Belgian-French dictionary to see whether the meaning of satisfaction was the one I thought.

After living in Belgium alomst 5 years, it is the first time a receive a letter like this. OK, I received emails, and online surveys.....but not a nice letter like this.

What is going on? are things starting to change? why do they care about customer satisfaction? I thought they only cared about bills and strict opening hours.....maybe I am wrong.

  1. BAD EXPERIENCE WITH HOTEL ALMA
My wife and i, former residents of Belgium, had plans to visit Brussels april 17-20 and prepaid our reservations at the HOtel Alma, near the Grand Place. When the volcano hit, we tried to cancel the reservations, but, despite the high demand for rooms in Brussels, and the the fact it was impossible for us to fly to Belgium, the Hotel REFUSED to rent our vacant rooms--and REFUSED to let us talk to a senior manager. So--despite the heavy demand for accomodations the past few days, our prepaid room remained vacant.
